'Chowkidar' giving Chandrababu sleepless nights: Modi

He said Modi had no right to visit the state as he "betrayed" the state by not fulfilling the promise to accord SCS and other commitments made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014.

Naidu alleged the opposition YSR Congress mobilised crowds for the Prime Ministers public meeting at Guntur as the BJP totally "lost" public support in the state. "And that is why NTR chose to make AP Congress-mukt and floated the TDP", Modi said.

Targeting the Congress, he said "Those who had the opportunity to rule the nation for years did not bother about India's defence sector".

"The "chowkidar" (watchman) is giving him sleepless nights because we insist on seeking account for every rupee given to Andhra Pradesh for its development", he said. He said Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy had become a "punching bag".

On providing clean fuel in the country, Modi said that while in 60 years, only 12 crore gas connections were given, the NDA government had given 13 crore gas connections in just four years.

Besides the TDP, the Left parties and the Congress will also protest against Modi's visit. "They have come to our country and embraced the idea and ethos of Mother India", he said while assuring that no harm will be allowed to be caused to Assam and the rest of the North East because of the citizenship bill.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister dedicated two petroleum and gas projects to the nation.

This is PM Modi's first visit to the state after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) pulled out of the NDA following a fallout over the Special Category Status past year.

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Assam capital Guwahati on Friday evening amid tight security even as different agitating organisations waved black flags as the convoy passed from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to Raj Bhavan in the city.

"The chief minister's whole energy is spent on saving his seat from big Congress leaders", Modi said, referring to Kumaraswamy, who has often expressed his helplessness in the face of coalition pressures.

Moreover, there is a possibility that several civil society groups across the Northeast, including All Assam Students Union, will also intensify the protests in view of PM Modi's visit.
