After taking the Grammys stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday night to honor the stars of Motown, Jennifer Lopez stepped up to the mic to rebut critics offended by the performance.

Robinson made the comment to Variety's Marc Malkin outside Clive Davis' pre-Grammy gala on Saturday.

"The thing about music is that it inspires all".

After she finished, she told the crowd that she was "grateful" to be here tonight. The 49-year-old singer stopped by the The Ellen Degeneres Show and revealed juicy details of her and Alex's relationship, including their favorite body parts and what they wear to bed.

In response to the criticism, Motown tweeted and then deleted a statement in defense of Lopez. "Everybody", he said. "Who's stupid enough to protest Jennifer Lopez doing anything for Motown?".

The highlight of the tribute was Robinson joining Lopez onstage to perform the Temptations' "My Girl", despite an incredibly awkward ad lib of "My Jen". In addition to Robinson and Ne-Yo, Lopez got a little help from her friend Alicia Keys during the tribute, too.

But bad news for fans outside the USA as she will sadly only be performing in the US.

The diet certainly proved its worth at the 2019 GRAMMYs, where J.Lo slayed during the Motown tribute. "I really do", she jokes. That is romantic to me, like he was trying to get her on the phone...

However, despite her incredible routine, viewers were quick to call the star out over her Latina background - claiming the ceremony should have chosen a black singer. Huffington Post editor Phillip Lewis posted, "I'll never understand why they didn't choose someone Black for a MOTOWN tribute".
