The untold truth of GoT's Battle of Winterfell episode

The untold truth of GoT's Battle of Winterfell episode

The first still shows Jon and Daenerys standing over the Winterfell ramparts, overlooking a deadly wildfire. And while Jon mentioned the Night King by name, that could be synecdoche, like if an Atlanta Falcons fan were to say "Ugh, Drew Brees is coming to town" when they mean "Ugh, the New Orleans Saints, who have beaten us three times in a row, are coming to town".

The Night King: Will die either at the hands of Jaime or Arya.

So, everyone is now in position for the huge battle between the living and the dead, Dany and Jon look set to mount their respective dragon steeds and fly into battle, Jaime Lannister and (Ser) Brienne of Tarth are on the ground, and Tyrion and Vars are down in the crypts.

While battle scenes can be boring or bloodthirsty, the Battle of Winterfell is expected to bring together more major cast members than any episode since the 2011 Game of Thrones pilot, and it will be the longest battle sequence in film or television history, according to Entertainment Weekly.

'The most heroic thing we can do now is look the truth in the face, ' Sansa Stark [Sophie Turner] said in a voiceover. Have they gone to the dragons? However, it does seem unlikely that whatever hits him after this moment of dread will kill him.

Season 8 is still ongoing, of course, so we're asking you to name all the main characters who've died up until the end of Season 7.

We've been reminded plenty of times that one million people live in King's Landing, and what's more, now Cersei has an extra 20,000 men and 2,000 horses from Euron Greyjoy.

But it's not just Sansa that could be about to meet her maker.

Another image shows Sansa with sister Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) on the castle ramparts. The series has been building up to the Night King's arrival since the very first scene of the show, so we know that this will be an epic clash regardless of the specific outcome. I'm also curious to see how Ser Jorah Mormont will use the Valerian steel given to him by Sam.

Game Of Thrones will conclude its six-episode final season May 19.

Game of Thrones has been at its best when it makes sure the story is about the individual characters, not the scale of the action.
