6 people found dead in rural Tennessee, suspect in custody

Four people were found deceased at a home on Charles Brown Road and one person was found dead on Luvy Daniels Road that according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The TBI believes the two scenes are related.

Details about a possible motive or how and when the victims were killed have not been released.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents are continuing to investigate the murder of six people in Sumner County on Saturday.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officials said in a statement early Sunday that 25-year-old Michael Cummins was transported to a local hospital Saturday night.

More than a dozen officers from Sumner County's joint SWAT team found Cummins in the creek, the TBI said.

Authorities say they have found five bodies in two rural Tennessee homes and are searching for a possibly armed suspect.

The killings were first reported on Saturday afternoon when a family member found four bodies at a home in Westmoreland, a town northeast of Nashville. A number of law enforcement agencies were searching for Cummins, saying he could be armed and unsafe.

Michael Cummins was named a person of interest and after a manhunt he was caught and is now in TBI custody. Authorities say when the suspect Cummins was captured, he produced multiple weapons, prompting an officer to shoot him.

"We are dealing with a tragic situation that unfolded here in Sumner County", DeVine said at a news conference Saturday night.

Investigators say Cummins may be in the woods nearby. They also have not said what kind of weapon was used.
