Florida woman pulls gator out of her trousers during traffic stop

A Florida woman pulled a small alligator from her yoga trousers during a traffic stop, sheriff's officers said.

The couple reportedly told the police that they were just collecting snakes and frogs from under an overpass, and when the deputies asked if they could search some bags in their truck, Clemons gave them permission to do so.

Deputies were reportedly checking if they had any protected species in the auto when they discovered the turtles and then the alligator.

The woman also had 41 three-stripe turtles in a backpack, deputies say.

A 25-year-old woman "proceeded to pull an alligator out of her yoga trousers (about one foot in length) and placed it into the bed of the truck", a Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy wrote in an incident report obtained by PEOPLE.

When asked if she had anything else, deputies said she pulled a foot-long alligator out of her yoga trousers and placed it in the truck bed.

The driver showed the deputy a bag near his feet with clothes and personal items in it.

Deputies then asked if she had anything else.

It has not been confirmed whether the pair have been charged over the incident, The Miami Herald reports. The woman opened a backpack at her feet to reveal 43 small turtles, police said.

The sheriff's office shared the discovery on Facebook and Twitter.

Florida Wildlife and Conservation officers responded to the scene and continue to investigate.
