Prince Harry says Meghan has given birth to a baby boy

Meghan Markle welcomed a baby boy on Monday morning.

The still to be named baby boy weighed 7lbs, 3oz.

Speaking from Windsor, a visibly-excited Duke of Sussex said the little boy "was absolutely to die for" as he shared his vast pride for his newborn son and his wife.

One sign that the birth was impending: Prince Harry recently cancelled an overseas trip to be at his wife's side. It was also another chance to hear the news that everyone wants to know after a birth - mother and baby are both well.

"It has been the most unbelievable experience I can ever imagine", the new father said.

"We are both absolutely thrilled and grateful to the support from everybody out there", he said.

Asked what it was like to be present for the birth, he laughed and said: "I haven't been at many births".

Harry, who has said he wanted to protect his wife from intrusive media coverage, and Meghan have said they plan to keep numerous details of the birth private.

Some British bookmakers had stopped taking bets last week on when the baby would be born, believing that it had already secretly arrived.

However, Queen Elizabeth could also step in and gift the child with a title of prince for his birthday.

Meghan and Harry's new son automatically becomes a lord at birth. "That's all I'm saying".

"Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!⁣" the royal said in a statement on Instagram.

The royal family shared that Meghan Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, is with the new parents at Frogmore Cottage.

The announcement was timed just ahead of the newlyweds' worldwide tour, which meant that Meghan and Harry were showered with a diverse array of baby gifts from all over the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are attempting to keep the birth of their child as private as possible.

According to the Daily Mail, a statement released by Buckingham Palace shows Diana's siblings Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer were alerted, alongside other high profile royals.

The Duchess did previously confirm that her due date was at the end of April/start of May.
