Game of Thrones' Coffee Cup Has Been Removed From Episode 4

Starbucks has wittily tweeted a response to the viral screenshot of a Starbucks cup in the recent Game of Thrones episode.

New images from episode five of the final series of Game of Thrones suggest Missandei's death will take its toll on Daenerys.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted the cup's brief cameo on a Winterfell banquet table in front of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), setting off a wave of memes and mashups highlighting the gaffe.

As of this morning, however, that coffee cup has been removed from the show.

Game of Thrones makers have edited out the modern coffee cup from HBO Now and HBO GO edition of the episode.

Game of Thrones released nine photos from season 8, episode 5 - the HBO hit's second-to-final episode. Starbucks did manage to turn HBO's error into a marketing opportunity by tweeting on Monday that "we're surprised she didn't order a Dragon Drink".

The first teaser trailer for the next episode of Games of Thrones sees Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and forces loyal to Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen arrive at King's Landing, with carnage nearly certain to follow.

According to a NY radio station, Bernie Caulfield, executive producer of Game of Thrones said in an interview the gaffe was "rare" as the team behind props and decorations "always gave their 1000%".

So far, the four aired episodes have been together tallied more than 68 million views, and that doesn't count all members of groups or families watching together and views from other means.

"Things can get forgotten on set", he said.

Despite the fact that Starbucks couldn't have even paid HBO for the cup placement if they wanted to, Jones said the publicity value for the coffee company was enormous.

Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote: "Everyone's talking about the coffee cup but can we talk about why the f*** King's Landing is now in a desert without mountains?"
