Fortnite season 9: The future comes to Tilted Towers

Not a whole lot changed with Fortnite's Season 9 map, but the destruction of Tilted Towers and Retail Row in the final days of Season 8 now have new homes.

Included in the deluge of information that Epic Games released to mark the start of the game's ninth season, the developers gave fans in the Middle East some good news to kick off the game's latest season. Check out the cinematic reveal trailer above, where the dark fate of banana man Peely is revealed.

What is Slipstream in Fortnite Season 9? On top of that, there are new locations to uncover such as Neo Tilted and Mega Mall. Same futuristic look with the addition of Slipstreams. Several other weapons, items and throwables were also vaulted including Clingers, Buried Treasure, Poison Dart Trap, Scoped Revolver, Suppressed Assault Rifle, Thermal Assault Rifle and Balloons.

While some players will still be getting to grips with the new changes, many will be grinding through the first set of weekly challenges and after completing them, they're going to be able to collect a secret battle star. As always, the Battle Pass offers players who buy it a host of in-game rewards to unlock over the course of the season, but this time, Epic is doing things a little bit different.

For Save the World players, Wargames is a new mode where you can take part in simulated missions with additional challenges, like a tornado moving through the map, or a storm you have to avoid with portable shields only. These collectible computer chips are hidden across the island with a new one unlocked each day of the season.

The latest update also adds a new Combat Shotgun, which is semi-automatic, can hold 10 shells at one time, fires 9 pellets per shot for 73 / 77 / 81 base damage, and has a headshot multiplier of 1.70x.

But, now that the lava is cooling, what can players expect this season.
