Were USWNT celebrations truly a bad look for the Americans?

Were USWNT celebrations truly a bad look for the Americans?

Federation Internationale de Football Association has withdrawn a claim that 1 million tickets have been sold for the Women's World Cup and now says the total includes people paying nothing to attend games, including VIPs and even medical staff. "It's a thing. I don't really have a problem".

"I think it's disrespectful if we don't show up and give our best, and play our game for 90 minutes".

U.S. women thrashed Thailand by 13 goals as Alex Morgan and Co run riot to set new World Cup record.

Morgan was involved in the second goal, too, playing a neat one-two with Rose Lavelle before the latter produced a 20-yard effort that Thailand goalkeeper Sukanya Chor Charoenying could only fumble into the back of the net. Goal difference is a tie-breaker at the group stage of this tournament, and may end up deciding whether the US wins its group.

For all that have issue with many goals: "for some players this is there first World Cup goal, and they should be excited", 2015 World Cup victor Wambach wrote via Twitter. I think it unlikely that those final few goals against hapless Thailand will be needed for the finish on top, but you never know.

Celebrating goals is cool and good.

The absence (or virtual absence) of precedent for Rapinoe's display demolishes Amy Wambach's attempt to defend her former teammate. Imagine it being you out there.

Goal difference may be important in deciding who wins the group, with the U.S. facing Chile next before taking on Sweden, the team who defeated them in the quarter-finals of the Rio Olympics in 2016. The Women's World Cup started on June 7 and is set to go on until July 7 with the USA playing Chile and Sweden in the upcoming weeks.

Ratings for the first two days of the Women's World Cup in the USA were reportedly up 11 percent. Thus, it wasn't surprising when she made a decision to emulate Colin Kaepernick and disrespect America by refusing to stand for the National Anthem.

The Americans did take time to console the Thai players following the game. She then accused the owner who thwarted her attention-grab of being "homophobic" (Rapinoe is a lesbian).
