Nokia 9 PureView - First Penta-Lens Camera Smartphone Coming Soon To India

The highlight of the smartphone is the ZEISS-branded penta-camera module consisting of dual 12MP RGB sensors and three 2MP monochromatic sensors with f/1.8 aperture. But it has not yet been launched in the Indian market.

The official Nokia India Twitter account posted a short video showcasing the five camera sensors packed on the rear of the phone and how the focal length can be adjusted in the phone.

Speaking about the camera system of the device, the Nokia 9 PureView has a penta-camera setup at the back which is a first for any smartphone. Up front, there's a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. The company stated that, "Explore much more than meets the eye with the power of 5". HMD says it opted to go with last year's Snapdragon chipset because it worked with Qualcomm to optimize the platform with the unique camera arrangement on the Nokia 9, but the rest of the hardware is in line with what you'd find on a premium phone today.

The Nokia 9 PureView was expected to be launched in India by the end of April, however, it was delayed.

In the U.S., the Nokia 9 PureView was launched with a price tag of $699 (roughly Rs. 49,700). In terms of memory, the device is equipped with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Since it is IP67 rated, the handset comes with a dust and water resistant chassis.

The phone has a display of 5.99 Quad HD+ pOLED PureDisplay with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The phone has a glass back and sports a rear fingerprint sensor. It is already the best-selling premium phone in India, and HMD has its work cut out if it wants to go up against OnePlus in this category.

For avoiding a camera bump at the back, Nokia 9 PureView does not come with OIS or optical image stabilization. It comes with a USB-Type C connector placed at the bottom followed by speaker grills and primary microphone, while at the top, with a 3.5mm headphone jack is placed alone. Making sure everything ticks is a 3,320mAh battery with support for Qi wireless charging.
