Federer Outrallies Nadal In Wimbledon SFs, Will Meet Djokovic For Title

Federer is an eight-time Wimbledon champion, while Nadal has won two titles at the All England Club.

Last month, Nadal got his shot at Federer on red clay, winning their wind-whipped French Open semi-final in straight sets on the way to a 12th title there. Only Federer has beaten Djokovic at every Grand Slam.

The 37-year-old, on the other hand, dropped the first set he played, to unheralded Lloyd Harris in the first round.

Federer amassed 10 break points, and though he succeeded on just two, that was enough, with the last, vital conversion making it 2-1 in the fourth set. I felt like I played good also throughout the four sets. Today is sad because for me I know chances are not forever.

The celebs got to see Novak Djokovic defeat Roberto Bautista Agut, and they're now watching Roger Federer take on Rafael Nadal. He had break points and the prevailing fear for Federer fans was that if Rafa converted any of those to make it 5-all, Rafa was surely going to win the fourth and take the fifth.

Federer won their first duel in the 2012 semi-finals but Djokovic triumphed in the 2014 and 2015 championship matches.

As entertaining Djokovic vs. Bautista Agut was - including a 45-stroke point won by Djokovic - it was merely a tasty appetizer ahead of the day's delectable main course.

Halep's 6-1, 6-3 win over Svitolina gives her a fifth appearance in a Grand Slam final, tying Ilie Nastase for the most by a Romanian male or female player in the Open Era. He held his first two service games without dropping a point.

Seeded 23rd, Bautista Agut was as surprised by his march to Wimbledon's semifinal as anyone, having scheduled his bachelor party in Ibiza for the tournament's final weekend.

Federer will fight for the title against defending champion Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final.

This was the contest that had been salivated over, serve no longer on top, each man testing the other to the limit in pulsating rallies. The legendary narrator and wildlife activist was spotted in the Royal Box for the Federer and Nadal clash. His groundstrokes, very poor in the second set, looked increasingly sharp; the following game, he saved three break points, the second after a 23-shot rally that ended with a forced backhand error from Nadal.

After being greeted to Centre Court by a standing ovation, both Federer and Nadal seemed to have an "anything you can do, I can do, too" vibe.

"In the matches against him, I went through a lot of different emotions and things that allowed me to understand what I need to do to become a better player and to win against him and win grand slam trophies".

"It's always very, very cool to play against Rafa here, especially haven't played in so long", said Federer.

And to think Roberto Bautista Agut gave up his stag weekend for this: a four-set, nearly three-hour clumping by Novak Djokovic.

So impressive has Nadal been so far that he arrives into the game as the bookmakers' choice, despite the fact grass is traditionally his least favorite surface and Federer's preferred one instead.
