R. Kelly arrested on federal sex trafficking charges, reports say

"Today that comes to an end", U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue said in New York City Friday.

"As alleged, R. Kelly...engaged in a racketeering enterprise that preyed upon women and girls who attended his concerts so that the victims could be available to engage in illegal sexual activity with him at a moment's notice", U.S. Attorney for the EDNY Richard Donoghue said in a statement.

"Mr. Kelly has declared his innocence", Johnson said.

Brooklyn federal prosecutors also detailed allegations involve five "Jane Does" - including the 19-year-old who they say contracted a venereal disease from Kelly during unprotected sex.

NY reports that Homeland Security Investigation agents and NYPD Public Safety Task Force officials arrested Kelly Thursday evening after the singer stepped out to walk his dog.

Kelly already faced similar charges in IL of a similar nature.

The Illinois federal indictment details efforts to cover up sexually explicit videos of Kelly with underage girls. He's also accused of forcing contact between his penis and the alleged victim's mouth.

According to Greenberg, a bail hearing is set for next week. The singer has denied wrongdoing. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all charges in all current cases against him.

R. Kelly has denied the allegations made in the six-part series.

Besides racketeering the indictment includes charges of transporting for prostitution and coercion or enticement of a female.

Kelly, 52, is charged with sex trafficking in NY and attempting to influence a case in Atlanta, and was arrested while walking his dog, a source with knowledge of the arrest said.

Kelly's lawyer, Steve Greenberg, told NBC News that the federal charges represented accusations that were "decades old" and that Kelly "was acquitted of" previously.

R. Kelly's residence was searched on Friday while he was being held in a Chicago detention center.

Kelly allegedly had rules that included forcing the girls to call him "Daddy" and they were not allowed to leave their rooms or go to the bathroom without his permission.

The new federal charges against Kelly are a significant development, but his legal battle is far from over. Federal charging documents were not yet posted online as of Friday morning.

The indictment in Chicago alleges that Kelly coerced minor children to perform sex acts for the objective of creating child pornography and that the pornography was transported across state lines. The NYPD declined to comment.

Prior to Thursday's arrest, Kelly was on bail for a slate of charges in Chicago, including five felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

In a short statement, Joseph Fitzpatrick said that the R&B singer was taken into custody at around 7pm and was being held by authorities.

That's not all. According to Gerald Griggs, who represents Joycelyn Savage's family among others, the federal investigation run by the Northern District of IL uncovered over 20 videos of Kelly engaged with minors.
