Amazon Prime Day sale starts Monday

Amazon Prime Day is (nearly) hereeeee!

"There is this enormous halo effect to Prime Day", said Jaysen Gillespie, head of analytics and data science at ads firm Criteo, adding that non-Amazon retailers should experience large increases both in traffic to their websites and in sales.

If you're not an Amazon Prime member then you'll need to sign up for a 30-day trial at least to participate. For reference, that's £50 cheaper than the cheapest PS4 deal which only comes with one game, and £130 cheaper than the cheapest Nintendo Switch Prime Day deal.

The promotion, which begins at 2:59 a.m. EST on Monday, July 15, and continues through Tuesday, July 16, brings slashed prices on merchandise such as tech, home products, clothing, pet food and more. USA members of the club pay $119 per year for benefits including one-day shipping, and they tend to buy more goods, more often from Amazon. If you're after great Xbox One deals, you'll want to steer your browser over to Walmart, where you'll find a great deal on an Xbox One X 1TB model.

It's the best deal we've seen in the U.S. since Black Friday, and while Nintendo Switch Lite was just announced for September, that won't take the place of the real Switch console for a lot of people who like to play their games on the TV, too (the Switch Lite lacks this functionality).

New this year, Prime Day will offer more than one million deals globally, including the above-mentioned Lightning Deals.

Finally, it's worth mentioning that the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is selling for the $199 it should probably cost all the time. In total, Prime members purchased over 300,000 Instant Pot 6 Quart 7-in-1 Multi Use Cookers during last year's sale. Pokemon: Let's Go! Eevee is now selling for $30, which is a pretty substantial cut when you consider this is a Nintendo-published game, and they nearly never get discounted that deeply.
