76ers, Ben Simmons agree to contract extension

Philadelphia 76ers star point guard Ben Simmons has reportedly made a decision on the massive contract extension offer he received earlier this summer. After missing what would have been his rookie season with a fractured foot, the LSU product quickly developed into one of the most promising young players in the league.

Along with the extension for Simmons and Embiid having multiple years left on his deal, the Sixers signed Tobias Harris to a max contract this offseason, keeping him in town through the 2023-24 season. Ben Simmons is the latest to commit his long-term future to the franchise after reaching an agreement over a five-year maximum contract extension.

Simmons finished past year averaging 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game and helped lead Philadelphia to the second round of the Playoffs. He made his National Basketball Association debut in the 2017-18 season and was Rookie of the Year.

It was Paul who shocked Australian sports fans on the weekend when he told ESPN that Simmons was "doubtful" to play for Australia at the World Cup in August-September. He is 0-for-17 in his career from the 3-point line and is a career 58% free-throw shooter. But, according to, his salary will more than double next season with the guard set to earn around $29.3 million and it will rise to $39 million in the final year of his new deal during the 2024-25 campaign. "I wouldn't want to be in a place where they didn't really care or only showed up in the times we were doing well". "His jump shot is looking really good and he has the confidence to shoot".
