Man Utd attack stronger despite Lukaku exit - Ole

United had reopened talks with Juventus for the Croatia worldwide in a bid to sign a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

United did not replace the striker, increasing the expectation for goals on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and teenager Mason Greenwood.

Inter said in a statement on Thursday that Lukaku, who will spearhead the Serie A club's attack in a revamped team under new coach Antonio Conte as they attempt to win their first major trophy since 2011, had signed a contract until June 2024.

However, come deadline day and United confirmed that they had come to terms with Inter Milan over the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku found the target 42 times in 96 appearances for United, with previous spells at Chelsea, West Brom and Everton having allowed him to reach 100 efforts in the Premier League.

"I said earlier in preseason and last season as well, it's not about a quick fix it's a longer rebuild", Solskjaer told a news conference.

"We hadn't had much rest and it was tough trying to start the season off quickly".

"It might take us some time, but if we all stick to the game plan, work collectively as a team, and we've got a good manager who knows the club and who shares the same ambition, who knows what we can achieve?"

"I do expect him to stay, there's a striker there we think is going to be able to score some goals".

"I think he'll see this [Lukaku's exit] as an opportunity to make his mark".

Arsenal will allow more players to leave the club before the transfer window shuts for the rest of Europe's major leagues on September 2, manager Unai Emery said on Friday. "Two off the post, so we can count ourselves a little bit lucky to go in at halftime 1-0 up, but we settled down and played well in the second half", said Solskjaer.

Romelu Lukaku scores 4 goals in his first match for Inter Milan in their pre-season friendly against Virtus Bergamo as Inter Milan cruise to victory.

And Mason Greenwood's pathway would have been a lot more hard, of course, if we had another forward there.
