Gamescom ONL - Kojima Reveals New Characters and Gameplay Footage

Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a new Death Stranding gameplay video at Gamescom 2019. Mama has apparently birthed some kind of ghost baby, who's trapped on the "other side".

Speaking on stage during the Opening Night Live show hosted by Geoff Keighley, Kojima spoke through a translator about the urinating mechanic seen in the new Death Stranding gameplay footage. Deadman explains the goal that the Bridge Babies (the babies that Norman Reedus' character Sam is always carrying around) serve. He shakes the baby to soothe it-not too hard though, because that makes them angry and can also cause irreversible brain damage or death-and then we find out that Geoff Keighley himself is in the game. We see her cradling an invisible baby, who she refers to as her daughter. Mama, like all characters in the game, has a side story. Portrayed by Guillermo del Toro, Deadman explains to Death Stranding main character Sam why his BB is dying. In the trailer, we see Sam sitting in the midst of the hilly countryside. He then has to detach the baby and rock it using the DualShock 4's motion sensor to calm it down. Players in that game can equip Sniper with The Jarate, which is literally just a jar of pee you throw at people. It seems every time Death Stranding teases its gameplay it manages to confuse us or weird us out more. As Sam, you must survive a post-Stranding world filled with Beached Things and attempt to reach out, connect and rebuild. Her handcuffs seem to indicate she may also be or have been a porter like Sam.

Death Stranding is almost here - on PlayStation 4, at least - and now it's finally time to see what gameplay looks like.

Death Stranding launches on November 8th, 2019 exclusively on PS4. Kojima said that if more people pee here, the mushroom could become "something good later on".

He didn't elaborate on what exactly would happen if everyone chose to take a collective toilet break, but the gameplay trailer did show a mushroom growing as a result of Sam's pee, so maybe you'll be able to grow a massive shroom or something.
