Eddie Murphy Is Hosting 'SNL' For the First Time Since 1984

SNL will kick off Season 45 on September 28 with Zombieland's Woody Harrelson serving as host (his fourth stint as headliner).

Taylor Swift is set to be the musical guest on October 5.

Announced musical guests include Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello.

Murphy, of course, kickstarted his career as a cast member of Saturday Night Live but left in 1984, the year he also hosted. The Season 45 premiere will mark Eilish's first appearance on the series. She'll appear alongside Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will be making her debut appearance as the show's host. On top of that, she's also garnered plenty of acclaim as a writer and showrunner on the first season of Killing Eve, which she also executive produces.

So that makes this very big SNL news.

Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Stranger Things' David Harbour and Kristen Stewart will also host.

The NBC sketch show on Monday announced that Murphy will serve as host for an episode airing this December.

And as for Murphy-technically this is his third time hosting- he first took on the role in 1982 while still a cast-member and remains the only not ready for prime time player to host under those conditions.

Saturday Night Live returns to NBC for Season 45 on Saturday, Sept. 28. The show is produced in association with Broadway Video, created and executive produced by Lorne Michaels. As of right now, she doesn't have a musical guest attached, but that will come in time.

Stewart's return to Saturday Night Live comes three years after she created a viral moment on the sketch series by dropping an f-bomb during the show. His hosting date is a little early for Black Widow promotion, so this could be to promote the release of his upcoming film Dhaka.
