Jadeveon Clowney willing to sit out regular season games

Miami is reportedly one of the teams now discussing a trade for Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

After Thursday's preseason game versus the New Orleans Saints, coach Brian Flores brushed aside the gossip.

Although adding Clowney would improve an already solid defensive unit, that is not an area the Redskins need to address.

Some Miami Dolphins players are reportedly considering a "revolt" should the team part with offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil, who's been the subject of trade rumors. The Pro Bowler can't play or be dealt until he signs his tender, and no team can extend him during the season because the deadline to sign franchised players to extensions has passed.

Teams have to receive permission to talk to players in this situation and as of Tuesday afternoon, the Seahawks were said to have not been given permission to talk to Clowney. But he could make as much as $17.13 million if the team trading for him authorizes tagging him as a defensive end, which carries a higher price tag than linebacker. A trade seems likely and as of right now, these five teams are the franchises to keep an eye on.

Like Williams, the 2014 No. 1 overall pick is also remaining absent from the Texans because of a contractual situation.

The Texans placed the franchise tag on Clowney early in the offseason, then the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term deal by the July 15 deadline. As told to Pauline by one source in the agent community, "he (Clowney) is all over the place".

Miami has been speculated as a destination for the former top draft pick and 3-time Pro Bowl selection. He's had 18.5 sacks in the last two seasons. He had a solid season in 2018 with 47 total tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and a defended pass.

Clowney can't be exchanged without first marking his establishment label delicate, which gives him influence in the discourses as long as he will stay home and not answer to the Texans.

Now, the Texans shipping Clowney does not only have a negative effect on the Texans, as whatever they acquire in return could benefit them this season.
