Prosecutors drop Jeffrey Epstein's federal sex trafficking court case

Prosecutors said at the Tuesday hearing that an investigation into Epstein's alleged crimes would continue and that the dismissal would not prevent them from charging possible co-conspirators in the future.

A source close to Prince Andrew insisted that the photo appears doctored - pointing to the Duke of York's fingers, which are wrapped around Giuffre's waist.

The Duke of York faces claims that he forced Virginia Roberts Giuffre - one of Epstein's accusors - to have sex with him three times when she was aged 17.

Since Epstein's death, there have been a number of reports about his relationship with the Duke, including past allegations the pair travelled together on the financier's private jet with teenager Virginia Roberts, now known as Mrs Giuffre.

"Jeffrey Epstein robbed myself and all other victims of our day in court to confront him one by one, and for that he is a coward", said accuser Courtney Wild, who thanked authorities for giving them the opportunity to have their moment in court. She has said she was a 15-year-old working at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club when she was recruited to perform sex acts on Epstein.

Epstein, who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died behind bars earlier this month in what the coroner ruled a suicide.

Though anticipated, Berman's action included a reference to a Tuesday court hearing where 16 women spoke about their claims against Epstein of sexual abuse, some committed when they were under the age of consent. Another survivor, who chose to testify as Joan Doe, said her decision to go to Epstein's ranch as the "end of my childhood". "Anytime, we are ready and we have a lot of questions for him", indicating that he would welcome Andrew's help in trying to ensure that Epstein's abuse victims got justice.

Epstein was found dead on August 10 in his prison cell in NY, where he was being held on sex trafficking charges.

That referred to Epstein's 2008 conviction after pleading guilty to prostitution-related state charges.
