Marcus Rashford receives online racist abuse after penalty miss against Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson hailed a heroic English Premier League victory after his side stunned Manchester United 2-1 with an injury-time victor to record their first victory at Old Trafford since 1989.

Rashford's missed spot-kick, when he hit the post after Scott McTominay had been tripped inside the area, helped Palace secure their first Premier League victory over United and exposed familiar failings in Solskjaer's side. "We stick together. Jesse's not scored any goals in the last three games, no, but he's been a big part of our team and will continue being an important part", Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. "The Southampton game next week will be a completely different test and we've got to be ready for it".

"We're two missed penalties away from sitting there smiling, happy with nine points".

Manchester United kept pushing hard but the goal remained elusive as Crystal Palace defended doggedly in the final quarter of the game.

Rashford looked to be through on goal soon after but never brought the ball under control and Martin Kelly got a vital toe in.

Despite the additions of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, United found themselves conceding two incredibly soft goals with Palace scoring the opener first. We felt maybe it was too easy.

Aaron says that huge credit must go to Roy for his work with Palace.

"He's been training well and there's no doubt about his quality so let's see".

James thought he had an early goal on his first Old Trafford start in the 17th minute when Martial's blocked shot rolled his way, but Van Aanholt got a vital block in front of his goalkeeper.

It was a great day for Premier League club Crystal Palace as they recorded their first win over record champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Solskjaer backed his young striker, though, adding: "We're disappointed of course that we didn't win the game and I'm sure Marcus will look at his penalty again, but he'll definitely step up again and score".
