US Democrats subpoena Trump lawyer Giuliani in impeachment probe

As the transcript shows, the "favor" in question was that Trump was seeking help with the Justice Department's investigation into Ukraine's 2016 electoral interference.

Three House panels said Giuliani has claimed to have text messages, phone records and other communications regarding requests for the government of Ukraine to target Biden.

The individual, whose identity has remained unknown to this point, said in the nine-page complaint he or she received information from "multiple US government officials" alleging Trump was "using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 USA election".

A top Ukrainian presidential adviser, Andriy Yermak, insisted that Ukraine wants to maintain good relations with both Democrats and Republicans, and doesn't want to get tangled up in US political tensions.

The signatories on the letters were Democratic House Reps.

There is no evidence of wrongdoing by Joe or Hunter Biden. "How long you're on it is a whole different matter".

The allegations of the smear campaign have been bubbling for several months, but blew up in recent days with the a whistleblower complaint detailing Trump's comments on the call and the White House's moves to cover them up.

"Pursuant to the House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry, we are hereby transmitting a subpoena that compels you to produce the documents set forth in the accompanying schedule by October 15, 2019", Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel and Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, all Democrats, wrote.

Former GOP Senator Jeff Flake urged his former colleagues to stand up to Trump and condemn his behavior as wrong in an op-ed published in the Washington Post. Flake said impeachment "now seems inevitable", and the resulting division in the country could end up benefiting Trump politically.

Schiff said any effort by Trump to stonewall the probe could be used to impeach him for obstructing Congress.

All officials, except Kent, were named in the whistleblower complaint accusing Trump of "using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 USA election". Biden went around bragging that he had stopped the prosecution, so if you can look into it.

Key EventsHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in an interview Sunday on CBS's "60 Minutes" that "We could not ignore what the president did" in his interactions with Ukraine's president.

At no point has the Intelligence Committee chairman committed fraud or treason - two words Trump uses quite a bit without knowing what they mean. And when we see them, we will be ready.
