Birds Of Prey Trailer Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

It's safe to say that Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) is one of the most heavily-anticipated movies of 2020.

I'm not going to hide my love for this Birds of Prey trailer. They quietly dropped a teaser in theaters a few months ago, but it never debuted online. The bad guys include Ewan McGregor as Black Mask, and Chris Messina as Zsasz. At the end of the film, Harley Quinn's lover, the Joker, breaks her out of prison.

Birds of Prey is expected to further explore the journey of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn moving on from her relationship with The Joker. But being single isn't the same as being alone, especially when you've got friends like the Birds of Prey.

From the ashes of Suicide Squad comes Birds of Prey, which spins off Margot Robbie's Harley into her own adventure.

The fact that Harley Quinn has changed her Joker-themed tattoo shows another aspect in the character's new development following the events of David Ayer's Suicide Squad where she has ended her relationship with The Joker. Also on board for this superheroine extravaganza are Ali Wong (Fresh Off the Boat), Robert Catrini (American Crime Story), Steven Williams (It: Chapter One) and Derek Wilson of Preacher fame. Cathy Yan directed the film.

This is all quite fun to think about in the months leading up to the early 2020 launch of Birds of Prey, and will be even better to watch play out on the big screen when that time finally comes.
