Trump suggests Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason amid impeachment inquiry

This prompted Johnson to question Trump on a phone call, and he says the president denied it, telling him, "No way".

The lawyer for the first intelligence whistleblower who came forward with accusations concerning President Donald Trump and his interactions with Ukraine said Sunday he is representing a second whistleblower regarding the President's actions.

"Schiff's answers are especially interesting in the wake of reports in The New York Times and The Washington Post that the whistleblower approached a House Intelligence Committee staff member for guidance before filing a complaint with the Intelligence Community inspector general", Kessler wrote.

He was echoing claims made by GOP senator Lindsey Graham, who said on Sunday: "I want to know why they changed the rules about whistleblowers not - the hearsay rule was changed just a short period of time before the complaint was filed".

Intelligence Inspector General Michael Atkinson reportedly met with the second whistleblower when he was verifying the first whistleblower's complaint.

KEITH: Last week, in a closed-door meeting with USA diplomats in New York, Trump went after the whistleblower whose complaint set off the House impeachment inquiry.

The IG's office also said it had determined that the whistleblower did have some first-hand knowledge of certain alleged conduct.

Text messages released Thursday show USA diplomats discussing Trump's wish that Zelensky open investigations as a precondition to the Ukrainian leader visiting the White House.

"Chairman Schiff should disqualify himself from leading the investigation", said John Ratcliffe, Texas Republican.

Trump repeatedly made similar statements in recent days on Twitter, charging that Schiff, of California, had a read "fake" statement during an Intelligence Committee hearing last week and calling for his arrest.

TRUMP: Who's the person that gave the whistleblower the information? The administration has struggled to come up with a unified response to the quickly progressing investigation. Mr Trump appeared to believe that its release would quell the push for impeachment, but it only emboldened House Democrats.

One issue being discussed is how and whether the whistleblower should identify unnamed White House officials the whistleblower cited in the complaint as having conveyed the contents of the phone call with Zelenskiy.

However, other Republicans stood firmly in support of Trump on Sunday, echoing the president's insistence that the call was not significant.

"Over the past several weeks, the Committees tried several times to obtain voluntary compliance with our requests for documents, but the White House has refused to engage with - or even respond to - the Committees", according to a memo signed Wednesday by Schiff as well as Eliot Engel of NY and Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the chairs of the Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees, respectively. The President has also singled out his sources, saying that they were "close to a spy".

Trump also accused Schiff of committing treason in a tweetstorm last week and demanded to meet with his accuser, whose identity is kept secret under whistleblower laws.

Trump insisted Schiff "helped" the Central Intelligence Agency agent write up his suspicions, and the Times describes the whistleblower's "original accusation" as "vague".

House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings planned to issue a subpoena to the White House for records and information on the Trump-Zelensk'y phone call and almost $400 million in military aid to Ukraine that was initially withheld over the summer if the administration does not turn the records on Friday.
