Climate protesters arrested after scaling Montreal's Jacques Cartier Bridge

Two famous statues, Charging Bull and Fearless Girl, dripped with fake blood that the activists had splattered all over their fellow protesters and the cobblestone streets.

British police on Tuesday began clearing central London streets blocked by climate protests, cutting demonstrators out of their tents and restricting them to tourist landmark Trafalgar Square.

In an effort to raise awareness about the climate crisis, protesters are preventing motorists from driving across the bridge.

Extinction Rebellion says it expects peaceful protests over the next two weeks in more than 60 cities from New Delhi to NY, to call on governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025 and halt a loss of biodiversity.

LOWER MANHATTAN- At least 26 climate change protesters were arrested near Battery Park during demonstrations Monday, the NYPD said.

Extinction Rebellion activists are protesting in cities around the world, including Berlin, Amsterdam and Sydney.

They want to educate the protesters as well as government bodies on the issues that are affecting the earth such as climate change.

Others have said their plea for help is insensitive to homeless people; just last year, 43-year-old homeless man, Gyula Remes, died opposite the Houses of Parliament.

Extinction Rebellion demonstrators also attached themselves to the underside of a lorry they had used to block a road outside the Home Office.

The Met Police confirmed they've made 471 XR arrests to this level this week, with protesters gluing themselves to authorities structures and lying under automobiles in the aspect dual carriageway.

"I don't know that shutting the city down necessarily wins you many friends", Victoria's State Premier Daniel Andrews said, while defending their right to protest.

More than 1,000 Extinction Rebellion activists were arrested in London in April.

Members of the group usually sit or lie down in front of traffic until they are arrested and taken away by police officers.

He said he could not speak to the cost of policing the demonstration.

The Paris event brought the area around Chatelet to a standstill.
