The Cardinals have been beset by injuries to running backs David Johnson and Chase Edmonds, making Drake a viable trade option for the winless Dolphins. Still, neither is surprising after Arizona traded for Kenyan Drake earlier in the week. The pick is expected to be in the sixth round, but can became a fifth-round selection.

Arizona will send a conditional draft pick to the Dolphins, who have made multiple trades involving starters since August, including left tackle Laremy Tunsil (Houston Texans), middle linebacker Kiko Alonso (Saints) and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (Steelers).

Second-year pro Mark Walton, who had already supplanted Drake as the starting running back in Miami, will now have a more concrete role as the team's feature back.

Drake could see significant work in the backfield against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers if both backs are ruled out, Schefter adds. Drake has 47 carries for 174 yards and 22 receptions for 174 yards in six games this season. However, he did manage over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and nine total scores in 2018.

The Cardinals host the San Francisco 49ers at 8:20 p.m. EDT Thursday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

All told, however, divisional matchups can be weird, and life can be hard for the traveling team on Thursday Night Football bouts.
