Rapid Reactions: Golden State Warriors two-time MVP Stephen Curry breaks hand

Curry leapt with the ball then came down head first landing awkwardly on his hands to brace himself from the court, with Baynes crashing onto Curry's left hand.

Golden State was trailing 83-54 at the time he left and headed to the locker room.

"Aron Baynes came up after the game and just wanted to know how Steph was doing", coach Steve Kerr said. "He felt really bad. We're still going to hoop and just play basketball". The Warriors have lost badly in their first two home games at sparkling new Chase Center.

The loss of Curry for an extended period now leaves the Warriors as a shadow of their recent championship teams.

The lifeline of this team, Curry hasn't played overly well to start the season, but he's still the heartbeat of the offense.

The Warriors already are without All-Star Klay Thompson as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and Kevin Durant departed this offseason for the Nets.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder star required surgery after breaking his hand in the second games of the campaign, but he returned just over three weeks later.

Notes: The Warriors on Thursday (Friday, PHL time) announced they have exercised the third-year contract options for the 2020-21 season on guard Jacob Evans III and forward Omari Spellman.

Glenn Robinson III added 17 points, D'Angelo Russell 15, Willie Cauley-Stein 12 in his season debut and Ky Bowman 10 for Golden State. Losing Curry four games into the 2019-20 season is a significant blow to the Warriors' playoff chances, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the organization take an extremely cautious approach knowing the team likely won't be competitive in the Western Conference without him.

It's hard to tell just how traumatizing this injury will be for Golden State mainly because we don't know the timetable for Steph.
