Brissett goes down with knee injury in Colts’ loss to Steelers

Frank Reich told reporters after the Indianapolis Colts' loss that he believes the quarterback's injury is a sprain and possibly "MCL-ish".

Brissett went down early in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Steelers after guard Quenton Nelson stepped on his left ankle.

Hoyer was 17-of-26 for 168 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

As Reich waits to see if Brissett can practice this week, much less play against the Dolphins, the coach remains confident the Colts can win - regardless of who is behind center. As a result, his minor knee injury is a big relief for them.

The Steelers were holding their first lead, 20-16, in the third quarter when a perfectly placed punt pinned them at their 1. "Plays happen like that in football".

The Colts aren't good enough to getting away with mistake after mistake and expect to win.

There is no immediate plans to place him on what would be the season-ending injured reserve list.

"I've held for a number of years, " Reich said. "You catch the ball, you go to put it down and there's a split second that you can't locate the laces", Reich said.

"I thought Brian came in and did pretty well", Reich said of Hoyer's performance, via the team's official website.

Hoyer knew he was going in when Brissett stayed on the ground and grabbed his left leg.

We have seen the Colts defeat some of the league's best squads but they will need a healthy Brissett, Hilton, and offensive line in order to do it again. So you've got to get good mental reps and he's a pro. And immediately following Fitzpatrick's pick-6, Hoyer swiftly moved the Colts down the field and threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to punctuate a six-play, 75-yard drive. Hoyer threw an interception that was returned 96 yards for a touchdown. Backup running back Trey Edmunds ran for a career-high 73 yards and Chris Boswell kicked four field goals as Pittsburgh reached the midpoint of the season at.500 despite losing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to a right elbow injury in Week 2.
