City boss Guardiola accuses Liverpool star Mane of diving

Pep Guardiola is unsure if Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will be fit for Sunday's Premier League trip to Liverpool after he picked up a muscular injury against Atalanta.

"We knew it was going to be hard as they play man-to-man, they're a good team and they're in the Champions League for a reason".

Sergio Aguero (2) and Raheem Sterling (3) shared the five goals a fortnight ago and both to score again pays 5-2 at Betfred.

It was a game that provided the hugely irregular, but highly entertaining scenario of an outfield player playing in goal, Kyle Walker being asked to don the gloves following Claudio Bravo's 81st minute red card, the Chilean only having replaced Ederson as a half-time substitute. "Sometimes I criticise our goalkeepers for not catching the ball in training but as I found tonight sometimes you have to take two touches".

"We could have done better with the free-kick we conceded but we kept pressing and they only had the moment of danger when they tried to square it to Wesley and I managed to clear it in the second half".

With the momentum finally on their side, City won it in the 86th minute as Walker pounced after goalkeeper Alex McCarthy failed to deal with Angelino's cross.

On November 26 it will have home advantage against Shakhtar Donetsk, which drew 3-3 with Dinamo Zagreb in an extraordinary encounter elsewhere in Group C on Wednesday. Kulbakov missed it but, upon reviewing the incident, awarded a penalty and booked Illicic. It was a flawless result away and we need one more point to go though.

City would have secured a spot in the knockout round with a win and took an early lead with a delightful move. "In the last 15 minutes we had the issue with the new keeper". 'These (top European) teams always play to win and their pressing is relentless.

The goal was ruled out by VAR, with the Premier League offering a freaky explanation that said Firmino's "armpit" was offside.

If Ederson is unavailable, Bravo will step in for only his third Premier League appearance in two years. Benzema added the fourth just before halftime and scored again late in the second half, while Rodrygo sealed his hat trick in stoppage time. "We knew it before the game", he said.

Also in Group B we have Bayern Munich v Olympiakos as the Germans start life without manager Niko Kovac with Hansi Flick the interim manager and Arsene Wenger now favourite to get the job permanently.

Claudio Bravo's display will have the Liverpool front line rubbing their hands with glee.

"It means we have a good team".
