West Ham United monitoring Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg

Ljungberg´s first task will be to arrest the slump that has seen the Gunners fail to win in seven matches - their worst run since 1992 when George Graham´s side failed to win in eight.

Many people feel it will be really hard for the interim coach to get things going within such a short span of time but according to Michael Owen, the Gunners should see this through at Carrow Road.

Speaking to Arsenal's website after addressing the team during training, Kroenke said: "Like all of our fans and supporters around the globe, we've been concerned about our recent string of performances. All the other stuff is just totally irrelevant". During games, supporters could be heard vocally taunting the Spaniard and begging for his departure, and he was frequently booed off the field.

Ljungberg was immediately named as caretaker boss and will be the man in the dugout when Arsenal travel to Norwich on Sunday. He is thought to be keen on proving himself and earning the permanent job, and Arsenal are open to letting him stay until at least the end of the season if he can turn things around.

"It is a great, great honour, that is how I feel".

"Its a great honour and that´s what I said to the players - ´you guys do the job and I´ll try to help and support you´".

"The club is close to my heart and I want the "Arsenal" to still be part of the manager and I think he is flawless for that".

Owen wrote for Bet Victor [as quoted]: "Norwich gained a tremendous and fully-deserved win at Goodison Park on Saturday, but I think Arsenal will pose a greater attacking threat at Carrow Road and take all three points back to the capital".

Ex-Gunners skipper Mikel Arteta ended his football career at Arsenal and he has been assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City for the best part of the last two years.

"My message to Freddie and the players was let's get back to basics and most importantly let's get back to having some fun". I really feel this club can be brought together - to put some smiles on people's faces again.
