Seahawks take over first place in NFC West, beat Vikings

Now with the Week 13 slate of games around the NFL in the books following the Vikings and Seahawks game on Monday Night Football in Seattle, let's go back and pick out three studs and duds for Minnesota from the game.

Penny scored one touchdown rushing and one receiving, and Wilson hit David Moore on a 60-yard touchdown pass as the Seahawks scored 24 straight points to take control before needing to hold on late as the Vikings tried to rally. Alexander Mattison came in after that and saw most of the action for Minnesota. That's even MORE troubling as usual run game clogger Linval Joseph was active for the game (although he wasn't on the field almost as often as usual as he's still recovering from surgery). "So we said, OK, and we'll just run it and do what we do really well".

But the playoffs don't start this week, and there are more than a number of crucial games for Shanahan and Co. down the stretch. Seattle turned a 17-10 halftime deficit to a 34-17 lead.

Metcalf caught six passes for a team-leading 75 yards against the Vikings, but he has lost three fumbles this season, second only to Chris Carson's six lost fumbles.

This is damaging because the Minnesota Vikings have changed from a pass-heavy team with weapons like Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs to a run-heavy team with Dalvin Cook.

While the defense isn't as dominant as Pete Carroll would like, it is good enough to win against anyone. Batted ball to the ground but instead tipped it directly to safety Anthony Harris, who returned it for a touchdown (giving the Vikings 14-points).

Seattle pulled even at 17 on Penny's 1-yard TD run.

The first play of the fourth quarter was forgettable for the Vikings as well.

Foreshadowing big trouble down the line if the Vikings do get into the playoffs, their defense could not stop the run game of Seattle on Monday night.

In 2018, Thielen (1,373 yards) and Diggs (1,021 yards) both had over 1,000 yards receiving and a combined 18 touchdowns.

Vikings left tackle Riley Reiff suffered a concussion early in the second half and was ruled out.

The Vikings host the Lions in a pretty much must-win game for them, especially when you consider the Rams are just a game behind the Vikings for a wild card spot.

Cook did tell reporters after the game that he injured his chest (or re-injured his chest, as he showed up on the injury report this week), and that he'll "definitely be ready to go Sunday".
