Manchester United ready to firm up interest in Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United ready to firm up interest in Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes

According to Portuguese sports daily O Jogo, the two clubs are now defining the structure of a deal and modes of payment that could see the midfielder move to Manchester United this month.

Only world-class midfielder in the club now is Paul Pogba, who has continuously been troubled by his injured ankle.

Bruno Fernandes: The player Ole needs?

Manchester United will get greater value from a deal for Bruno Fernandes than they would a move for James Maddison, says Paul Parker, with Leicester's star playmaker said to be valued at around £120 million ($156m).

Bruno Fernandes did sign a new contract just 2 months ago, and was linked with the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Spurs in the summer, although a move obviously never materialised.

To that end, Bruno Fernandes is a viable target for Manchester United to pursue.

Sporting are exploring alternatives to replace a player who has 13 goals in 22 appearances this season and 19 caps for his country.

What Fernandes also brings to the table is goals from midfield, which Manchester United have sorely lacked this season. The club often plays one between Juan Mata and Andreas Periera.

"Now Sporting will accept 70m Euros, but paid in instalments".

Speculation has been mounting that Fernandes could be on his way to United this winter after widespread reports emerged last week suggesting Sporting Lisbon chiefs were in London to hold formal transfer talks with the Manchester giants.

Signing Fernandes in time for the game would, in our view, have given them a "bounce", but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Certain reports had also indicated that Manchester United were willing to sweeten the pot by offering a player on loan.

Red Devils are believed to want to conclude a £ 55m deal with Sporting after injuries to midfielders Pogba and Scott McTominay.
