Donald Trump gives LSU football team a championship welcome

President Trump on Friday welcomed the college champion LSU Tigers to the White House to celebrate their historic achievement - and cracked a couple of impeachment trial jokes along the way. Trump continued. "I heard stories".

Also during his speech, Trump commented on how rich several of the players were going to become, raved about the national championship game's "tremendous ratings on television" and brought up his recent trade deals and the success of the stock market during his administration. "The team is said to be one of the best ever, maybe the best ever", Mr. Trump said on Friday. He recalled how Burrow fought back tears as he received the trophy and how his description of Athens County as a place with a high poverty rate, where kids "go home to not a lot of food on the table, hungry after school", raised more than a half million dollars for the county's food pantry. Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow sauntered in close behind, wearing sunglasses and a backward baseball cap with beads dangling around his neck. "We're so proud of you", he said, referring to the players and coaches. "You're really an inspirational talent and all of that, but you're an inspirational player and you're an inspirational person. And you have a heart that's incredible, and you have a team that respects you so much".

While talking about the Oval Office and pictures of "some bad" presidents of the past, Trump took a moment to praise himself.

LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger lost his daughter-in-law, Carley McCord, in a plane crash ahead of LSU's game against Oklahoma but helped deliver the team a 63-28 victory despite the tragedy, the New York Post reported. "It's been there a long time, a lot presidents, some good, some not so good". Even though they're trying to impeach the son of a bitch, can you believe it? So, that's how we came together and he just got us all to do the "Get the Gat" challenge. The greatest military, we've rebuilt it. "You may be the most beloved coach in all the land". Trump said of the coach's signature voice.
