A total of 444 new confirmed cases were reported on Sunday outside Hubei, the data showed.

There are now more than 42,200 confirmed cases across China, based on previously released figures from the government.

A 60-year-old American man has also died from the virus in a hospital in Wuhan on Saturday, the US embassy confirmed to NBC News.

The death toll of the coronavirus cases overseas went up 220 with Japan reporting 86 followed by 33 in Singapore. The ship has 135 confirmed cases. They also reported 2,500 new cases, taking that number to more than 30,000.

The number of fatalities from China's new-coronavirus epidemic jumped to 1,011 nationwide today after hard-hit Hubei province reported 103 new deaths. According to him, these cases may be a sign of a more serious spread of the virus in countries other than China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told reporters on Monday that 27 foreigners in the nation have been diagnosed with the new virus, including a US citizen and a Japanese man in his 60s, both who died late last week. "73,127 people remain under medical observation", the statement said.

The head of a World Health Organization-led worldwide team investigating the coronavirus outbreak will leave for China on Monday or Tuesday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

The World Health Organization, which designated the outbreak a global health emergency last month, has warned all countries to prepare for an outbreak.

The World Health Organization said it was too early to confirm one Chinese official's belief that the outbreak was about to peak.

The WHO declared the outbreak a global emergency on January 30, days after the Chinese central government imposed a lockdown on 60 million people in Hubei province and its capital Wuhan, epicenter of the virus that emerged in December in a seafood market.

On Monday, China's President Xi Jinping also appeared in public for the first time since the epidemic began, inspecting health workers in Beijing.
